In a significant move towards sustainable packaging, Castrol India Limited, one of the leading manufacturers of lubricants, has achieved a new milestone by incorporating 50% recycled content in its high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles. This shift is part of the company’s broader strategy to replace 2,600 metric tonnes of virgin plastic by 2024, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
This development follows Castrol’s earlier success in 2023 when it fully commercialized 100% recycled bottles for its POWER1 product range. The latest initiative is a continuation of the company’s efforts to make its packaging more eco-friendly and is aligned with Castrol’s global PATH360 strategy. The PATH360 initiative aims to significantly reduce the company's plastic footprint by 2030, highlighting its dedication to sustainability at every level of its operations.
Sandeep Sangwan, Managing Director of Castrol India, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, “We are proud to announce this significant step in our sustainability mission. This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in overcoming challenges to develop packaging solutions that meet high standards for both quality and aesthetics.”
Beyond packaging innovations, Castrol India has maintained its focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations. The company is also committed to energy-efficient technologies and the use of renewable energy sources as part of its ongoing sustainability efforts. This blend of improved packaging and operational sustainability showcases Castrol India's commitment to creating a more environmentally friendly future.
